How Can Balin Law Help You Win Your Disability Case?

August 2, 2020

Did you know that hiring a Social Security disability lawyer can help improve your chances of winning? Balin Law attorney Matthew Shupe offers Social Security disability claimants some top ways to increase chances of winning a disability claim or overturning a denial on appeal.

Video Transcript

Hi, my name’s Matthew Shupe. I’m a disability attorney at Balin law, and I’m here to talk briefly with you about how the attorneys at Balin Law can help you win your Social Security disability case. Chief among the services we provide our clients is an explanation of what exactly is happening at all points of the process. I’m very fond of the phrase, “You don’t know what you don’t know.” And this is your first time dealing with the Social Security Administration in this fashion and a lot is happening behind the scenes, including your case moving from your local Social Security field office assigned by your zip code down to Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities in Columbus.

Balin Law is with you during the entire process to guide and advocate for you

We are really here 24/7 in the digital age to explain what is happening in the process, why it is relevant to help you characterize and frame your case in the manner that’s going to make it as easy as possible for the employees at Social Security to understand not only how your health affects your ability to function, but also important factors such as:

  • what exactly the duties were at work that you’ve done in the past,
  • your education level,
  • any special considerations or accommodations past employers gave you in light of your health issues.

Basically, at all points even before the application is filed, we do free consultations – all the way up to if you appeal through Social Security and if you need to sue the government in federal court. We’re there for you and can explain exactly what is happening and what the likelihood is of prevailing in your case. Additionally, we look at what we can do to increase that likelihood.

Alleviate stress by having a Social Security disability attorney on your side

Person happy in field of flowers

As disability attorneys, we run interference and help communicate with Social Security on your behalf. You have a lot of stress. You’re unable to work. You are probably dodging bill collectors. Even if not that, we all get all these telemarketing calls now. We could take that off your plate by communicating with Social Security on your behalf and helping them get all the information they need to come to an accurate decision in your case, and to do so in an efficient manner.

Balin Law gathers all of your medical records on your behalf

gather medical history

We also gather your medical records on your behalf. That sounds like it should be easy in the digital age when we all have electronic medical records, but it takes several attempts to get almost every record for every client. Often we will get the records and there will be tests such as blood work or an MRI that is notated as being performed, but it’s missing from the record and we find out we have to go to an entirely different department to get that underlying testing.

Filing for Social Security disability benefits without an attorney

Many people try to go it alone without an attorney and, unfortunately, many people are denied their first time. The Social Security Administration will attempt to get your medical records, but they only attempt two times. And after those two attempts, they’re going to make a decision on your case, even if they don’t have all the evidence.

We are highly motivated to make sure all the evidence is presented in a logical fashion because we work on a contingency fee, which again, we’re not going to get paid unless we win your case. And we win your case in a manner that results in back due benefits (also known as backpay or past due benefits) owed to you.

Communication and collaboration with your doctors

Another thing that Balin Law can do to help you win your case is we will communicate with your doctors and try to get medical opinions as to what you still can do despite whatever physical and mental impairments that you’re living with. Opinions from your doctors as to what you can still do, despite your impairments, are gold and some of the most helpful evidence in your case.

Final advice

Don’t go it alone. Statistics show you have a higher likelihood of winning if you have a disability attorney that is assisting you with your case. If you have any further questions, you can contact us at balinlaw.com. Again, my name is Matthew Shupe, I’m one of six attorneys at the firm. I hope you and your family are staying well during these trying times. And it’s a privilege to be able to help you out with these claims. Thank you very much.
